Christmas

I feel very remiss in not having wished all a wonderful holiday season. Heat-wave aside, we have had a lovely time here in Cape Town, gorging way too much, but relishing time spent with family...

Massimo Listri

Using natural light where possible, photographer Massimo Listri has perfectly captured what can only be described as the most exquisite interiors in the world. In his own words:

My photography is an expression of tranquility and silence in this chaotic society - a sense of perspective and equilibrium. This is therapy for the soul. Every time I take a photo is like the first time a treasure is revealed, a first emotion, be it an empty room or the greatest treasures of the Vatican...

Homestore Hastings

Not too long ago, I wrote about the Homestore Kitchen here - beautiful gleaming subway tile and an utterly covetable kitchen. I am even more enamoured with the home emporium created by Alistair Hendy. With reclamation as a mantra, Homestore Hastings in East Sussex is a mecca of simple, utilitarian beauty. In Hendy's words:

Certosa di San Martino

Founded as a Carthusian monastery in the 14th century, and restored to Neapolitan baroque style in the 17th century, the Certosa di San Martino is currently a museum in Naples, Italy. The sheer meticulousness in the abundant details is astounding...

And how amazing are the marble skull sculptures...
